For Daniel, upholstery has been a life-long passion. He joined a family business at a local antique furniture restoration business in the UK, where the craft was learned the old way — hand-stitched seats, hessian and webbing, traditional materials sourced for traditional pieces.
He moved to New Zealand in 2000 and kept working on furniture recoveries while designing and building custom pieces from scratch. Over twenty-five years here he's broadened the discipline to automotive upholstery, commercial fit-outs, and extensive work on boat interiors and covers.
Today he runs The Upholstery Company from a single workshop in Rosedale. One bench. One craftsman. Every piece, start to finish.
