Commercial
& Custom.
Custom furniture design and manufacture. Whether you want to expand an existing suite, create a stylish new look, or have a custom bed headboard made — if you can think it, we can make it.
/ 00 — Auckland upholstery workshop
We re-cover, re-build and re-think the seats, suites, vehicles and vessels Aucklanders refuse to throw away. Custom automotive, marine and furniture upholstery from a Rosedale workshop run by master upholsterer Daniel McAlpine.
/ 01 — Approach
Most upholstery shops do one thing well. We do five — because the same skills that re-stitch a 1960s wingback also rebuild a Mercedes Sprinter interior or a launch's helm cover. One workshop. One craftsman setting the standard. Less back-and-forth, fewer subcontractors, better finish.
Phone, email, or photos. No obligation, no hard sell. Pick-up Auckland-wide.
Traditional techniques on heritage pieces. Modern construction on commercial & auto.
Returned to your door, your driveway, or the marina — fitted and finished.
/ 02 — Services
From a single car seat repair to a full commercial fit-out — every job runs through Daniel and the Rosedale workshop.

/ 03 — Selected work
/ 04 — Process
Most jobs follow the same four steps. We tell you upfront which step yours is at, what's next, and what the total quote covers. No surprises, no half-finished work waiting for a phone call.
Send photos or call. Daniel quotes by project, not by hour. Free, no obligation.

/ 05 — Who's behind the work
Owner · Master Upholsterer
For Daniel, upholstery has been a life-long passion. He joined a family business at a local antique furniture restoration shop in the UK, then moved to NZ in 2000 and kept working on furniture recoveries while designing and building custom pieces.
Over time he broadened his skills to include automotive upholstery, commercial fit-outs, and boat interiors and covers. Today he runs the whole workshop himself — your job goes through one set of hands from quote to delivery.

/ 06 — Why owners come back
From Rosedale, we cover the entire Auckland region — pick-up and delivery for furniture, vehicles and marine work.
Daniel learned the trade in a UK antique restoration shop — and brought traditional methods to NZ in 2000.
The Upholstery Company has run from Auckland since 2012. Long-form jobs, long-term repeats.
Your job runs through Daniel — not a subcontracted line. Consistent finish, single point of contact.
/ 07 — Visit & quote
Send a few photos, drop into the Rosedale workshop, or book a pick-up — no obligation. Daniel quotes by project, not by hour, so you'll know the total before we start.
/ 08 — Next step
Most quotes come back same week. Photos help — but a phone call works just as well.
